Robert Byron Osborne, M.D.
Dr. Byron Osborne joined the Urological Associates, Ltd. in July of 1990. Dr. Osborne received his medical degree from The Medical College of Virginia, where he also continued his surgical and urological training. He was certified in 1992 by the American Board of Urology and recertified in 2002.
Dr. Osborne is an avid golfer. He and his family reside in Keswick.
Stephen E. Schmitz, M.D.
Dr. Stephen E. Schmitz joined Urological Associates in 1975. After receiving a B.S. in pharmacy and a degree in medicine from the University of Minnesota, Dr. Schmitz continued his surgical training at The University of Southern California Medical Center. From 1969-1971 he served as a flight surgeon, Captain in the U.S. Air Force.
Dr. Schmitz completed his Urology training at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1978. Dr. Schmitz and his wife reside in Western Albemarle County.
As of July 1st, 2008 Dr Schmitz has reduced his schedule to part-time. He plans to retire December 31st, 2008

Julian C. Fagerli, M.D.
Dr. Julian Fagerli joined the practice in July of 2000. Dr.Fagerli, "Corky", is a graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg.
He received his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk. He received general surgery training at West Virginia University School of Medicine, followed by 4 years of residency with the Department of Urology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Fagerli is a Board Certified urologist.
Corky enjoys playing golf and spending time with his two beautiful daughters. Dr. Fagerli, his wife, Nicole, and daughters, Anna and Caroline make their home in Western Albemarle County.
Mark Passarella, M.D.
In July 2003 the group welcomed the addition of Dr. Mark Passarella, 1992 graduate of the University of Virginia. Dr. Passarella received a master's degree in Physiology and Biophysics, as well as his Medical degree Georgetown University.
He continued his surgical and urological training at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Mark received extensive laparoscopic training from one of the leading physicians in the field at Tulane University. He was certified by the American Board of Urology in 2005.
Mark, his wife Lisa, son Bradley, and daughter Elizabeth make their home in Charlottesville.
Claiborne Whitworth, IV, M.D.
Dr. Claiborne "Chip" Whitworth, IV joined Urological Associates, Ltd. August 1, 2004. Chip is a native of Charlottesville and a graduate of the University of Virginia. He also received
his medical degree from the University of Virginia Medical School. He went on to Richmond, Virginia where he attended The Medical College of Virginia.
After completing his urology training in 1996, Dr. Whitworth set up practice in rural Galax, Virginia. Dr. Whitworth was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1998. Dr. Whitworth and his family make their home in Western Albemarle County.
Geoffrey Habermacher, M.D., Ph.D.
Geoffrey M. Habermacher, Ph.D., M.D. joined Urological Associates in July 2008. Geoff received his undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University. He continued his education at Emory University where he received his doctorate in cell and molecular biology. He completed a research fellowship in cancer biology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and went on to receive his medical degree from Emory University. At Emory he was awarded the Joseph B. Whithead Scholarship in Surgery in recognition of his surgical skills. Next, Geoff completed his urology residency at Northwestern University in Chicago. During his time at Northwestern he performed research into kidney and prostate cancer for which he won the prestigious Charles Huggins Award for Urologic Research. At graduation he was also honored by Northwestern Memorial Hospital faculty as the recipient of the Leander W. Riba Urology Award for outstanding performance, empathy and skill in patient care.
Geoff is a welcome addition to our team. His practice will consist of general urology with a special interest in prostate cancer, renal cancer, robotics and laparoscopy. Other interests include fishing and military history. Geoff, his wife and two daughters make their home in Western Albemarle.
Gina L. Mitchell, PA-C
Gina L. Mitchell, PA-C joined Urological Associates in November 2004. Gina has 8 years of pediatric and adult urology experience. She was a Physician Assistant for a busy 2-urologist practice in Northern Virginia. She has a BA in rehabilitation and psychology. Gina received training in physical therapy pursuant to her BS Degree in Physician Assistant from Mountain State University. Gina will provide services in urodynamics, biofeedback, physical therapy, and patient education in the treatment of urinary incontinence as well as other general urological disorders and diseases. Gina, husband Donnie, son Conner and twins Caden and Cameron reside in Southern Albemarle.
